Details regarding the 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler continue to emerge as the on-road testing of heavily disguised examples gains momentum.
Our enthusiast friends over at JL Wrangler Forums undoubtedly have the best feel for what we can expect from the all-new Wrangler, with the latest development being a redesigned easy-to-fold windshield.
JL Wrangler Forum’s sources have indicated that the JL Wrangler will not only retain a foldable windscreen, but that it has been extensively redesigned to make it considerably easier to fold down or lock in place.
The source appears to be ‘on the money’ as the folding windscreens hinge can clearly be seen in the above spy shot.
According to JL Wrangler Forums, large grab handles on the interior have been positioned in such a way that they have multiple uses, including assisting with entry, provide a steadying influence on the tracks, in addition to acting as handles for lowering and raising the windscreen from inside the vehicle.
Making the process even more convenient is the fact that the rear-view mirror mount has been moved from the windscreen to the roof.
In addition to the funky folding windscreen, recent spy shots – click through to JL Wrangler Forums to see more – hint at a prominent bonnet bulge and a larger, longer and possibly (unfortunately) lower front valance section.
The front guards have been smoothed out and are noticeably more curvaceous, which is in keeping with the more integrated styling of the JL – some of the harder edges have been knocked off, no-doubt to modernise the design and improve fuel efficiency.
The JL Wrangler Forums crew have seen hints of an all new black roof panel system (check their rendering above) which combined with an easy-to-fold windscreen suggest that the all-new JL Wrangler is all set for serious open-air motoring.
