2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Pricing And Specs

The updated 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee range has arrived in Australia, with revised styling, increased performance and a boost to safety and equipment levels.

Pricing for the updated Grand Cherokee range starts at $47,500 for the 4X2 Laredo and runs right up to $91,000 for the 344kW V8 Hemi powered SRT version.

“The updated Grand Cherokee range is not only more refined on-road and more capable offroad, we’ve bolstered its safety credentials and made it even better value for money,” said Jeep Australia Director, Guillaume Drelon.

This update also sees the introduction of the off-road focused Grand Cherokee Trailhawk.

“On top of all that, the arrival of the new Trailhawk model, with its heightened off-road abilities, is particularly exciting for Australia, a nation whose core values resonate strongly with Jeep’s love of freedom and adventure.”

Priced from $74,000, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is powered exclusively by Jeep’s 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 and 8-speed automatic transmission combo.

It uses Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4X4 system, and comes standard with an electronic limited slip rear differential and Quadra-Lift air suspension that has been tuned to improve wheel articulation and increase ground clearance to 260mm.

Four underbody bash plates have been added to protect the Trailhawk’s vitals and flashy red tow hooks (we aren’t sure if these are rated recovery points or not) have been bolted to the front for a bit of off-road bling.

Speaking of bling, there’s also neutral grey mirrors and a matte black bonnet decal to help separate the Trailhawk from its less capable brethren.

All Grand Cherokee models now feature a slimmer version of the trademark seven slot grille, revised headlights, a new front fascia and new LED fog lamps. A fresh selection of 18 and 20-inch wheels and a choice of six new exterior colours – for a total of 11 – complete the Grand Cherokee’s visual makeover.

Jeep Offroad Pages (off-road mapping) is included in all updated 4X4 Grand Cherokee models – except the SRT which retains SRT Performance Pages.

Inside, the Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a new ergonomically designed gear selector that falls to hand more naturally and is more intuitive to use.

An acoustic windscreen and front door glass has been added across the updated range a move that Jeep suggests further improves in-cabin refinement.

New active safety features include LaneSense Lane Departure Warning Plus, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist. A new Rear Trailer Hitch Camera View allows drivers to keep an eye on what they are towing and maximum braked towing capacity remains fixed at 3,500kg.

The Grand Cherokee continues to be offered with the choice of four drivetrains: a 4X2 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol, a 4X4 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol, a 4X4 3.0-litre V6 EcoDiesel and the big 6.4-litre Hemi V8 petrol.

Revisions to the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 have increased power to 213Kw and delivered a fuel efficiency improvement of “up to four per cent”, thanks in part to the addition of an engine stop-start system that reduces urban cycle consumption.

A new Gen II transmission has been developed for both the 4X2 Pentastar and 4X4 EcoDiesel. As well as shift quality and driveability improvements, the lubrication system has been improved.

Electric power steering is now standard across the updated Grand Cherokee range, replacing the previous models hydraulic setup.

As with all new Jeep product, the Grand Cherokee range is covered by Jeep’s recently announced ‘There & Back Guarantee’, which includes a five-year transferable manufacturer warranty, lifetime roadside assistance and capped price servicing when serviced within Jeep’s 99-strong national dealer network.

The updated Jeep Grand Cherokee range goes on-sale March 2017.
