The 2017 Ford Everest range has been extended to include a new entry-level Ambiente RWD model, with five-seats as standard and recommended retail price (before on-roads) of $47,990. The option of a third row of seating (seven-seats) is available for an additional $1,000.
The five-seat option is available on both the 2WD and 4WD Ambiente spec Everests.
In addition to the introduction of a five-seat option, Ford has reduced recommended retail pricing for all Everest variants, in an effort no-doubt aimed at bolstering a soft sales record to-date.
“The addition of the five-seat Everest gives more Australians access to an award-winning SUV with five-star safety, space for the whole family and genuine off-road ability,” said Graeme Whickman, Ford Australia President and CEO.
Everest Ambiente models gain as standard Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and an 8.0-inch colour touchscreen with reversing camera, dual zone climate control, upgraded 10-speaker audio system and driver instrument cluster with dual 4.2-inch LCD display.
With a five-star ANCAP safety rating, the Everest Ambiente RWD comes equipped with Dynamic Stability Control as well as Traction Control and Rollover Mitigation. This is in addition to the full complement of airbags, including driver and front passenger airbags as well as side-front airbags, driver’s knee airbag and full-length curtain airbags.
Behind the Everest’s 60:40 split-fold second row seating is 1050-litres of cargo space. When fitted with the optional third row seat, the Everest Ambiente also offers five child-seat anchor points, with two ISOFIX anchor points in the second row.
Sharing the Everest 4WD’s locally-engineered chassis means the Everest Ambiente RWD also benefits from 225mm of ground clearance and generous departure angles. It also runs the same all-terrain tyres as Everest 4WD models.
In addition, the Everest Ambiente RWD offers the same 3,000kg braked towing capability as the Everest 4WD and comes with trailer pre-wiring and Trailer Sway Control as standard.
The Ford Everest Trend is also available in either 2WD or 4WD and adds SYNC 3 Sat-nav to the standard feature list, along with a $2,000 price drop for both the 2WD and 4WD versions.
Likewise, the top-of-the-range 4WD only Everest Titanium, has had a $1,715.00 price reduction.
