Owner’s Thoughts

Although the Triton has never let me down, every time I drive it I get the feeling it is only a matter of time before something goes wrong with it.

The tray is a good size but in my travels, I have seen quiet a few MN Tritons with a bent chassis.

The little engine is too small for towing and touring, (loaded), and I’ve heard too many stories of them blowing up and needing to be replaced.

The factory suspension works on the road but that’s about it, once you head off the black top even to a gravel road the Triton becomes a whole new beast, (not in the good way). It will bump steer, oversteer and understeer, you will be lucky not to see the last meal your passengers ate returned into the interior space or out the window.

The interior is what you should expect from a dual cab ute. After a few hours in the drivers seat the factory centre console arm rest was like leaning on hard timber with sand paper stuck to it. I had it recovered and extra padding added which made a huge difference. The rear seat is suprisingly comfortable for a dual cab ute.

Overall, it does the job. If I had my time again, I would have bought the ML with the smaller tray and bigger engine.
