Owner’s Thoughts

I bought this car as a replacement for my old XJ Cherokee which was quite modified for off road use. I needed a more modern vehicle with the all the safety gear as we had some precious cargo arrive. I was a little worried as I have always loved my older Jeeps and as we all know the modern era Jeeps have had a few issues.

I’m happy to say I haven’t had any reliability issues as of yet and I still love my Jeep. This one is of the Daimler- Chrysler era and that shows when its being driven on road, (just like a road car). Off road I have been pleasantly surprised by its ability. Over in WA its mainly the beaches I use it on. The only issue is the standard ground clearance which isn’t great but that’s easily rectified at ARB.

It’s a bit thirsty, but hey its a Jeep, you don’t buy them for the economy. Mine is a 3.7 V6 petrol with the Quadra Trac 2 4×4 system which runs a full time AWD type set up with a transfer case to go to Low range 4×4. My recommendation to anyone looking at buying one would definitely be to go for a vehicle in ‘limited’ spec with either the 4.7 V8 or the diesel engine, you will get the better 4×4 system (Quadra Drive 2) which adds limited slip diffs and a bit more power.
