Tim’s 2015 LandCruiser Tourer – For getting in and out of building and camping sites.
Why did you choose this particuar 4X4?
I choose the 79 for a few reasons, mainly simplicity, reliability and availability of parts.
What have you built this 4X4 to do?
It’s primarily my work car that I use to run in between building sites every day. But when I get a break we like to throw the camper on the tray and head off somewhere new. It’s mainly touring and occasional slightly tougher weekend trip or day trip.
Where have you taken it and what are some of your favourite tracks/destinations?
Well I’ve only had it for 3 months and already racked up 15,000kms that included a trip from Melbourne to Perth along the Great Australian Bite leaving the day after my 1,000kms service.
Would you set it up the same again and if not, what would you change?
Well, I’m still in the process of setting things up but I have had many different set ups over the years so know what works and what I would like.
What future mods do you have planned?
Will be getting 35s for Offroad duties and keep the 33s for road and light work. Also have to do the suspension but still deciding on that. Other than that, still need to do water tank and pump, air tanks and pump, new front seats, currently looking at fitting a high mount winch.
Is there anyone that you’d like to thank for their help/assistance with building your 4X4?
Not yet, so far all the items that were not dealer fitter have been fitted by myself.
