Would you buy this car again? YES
In my opinion the Hilux Surf is a great average size 4×4 for the novice or a family’s getaway car for the weekend. However, it does not tow well due to the overheating issues that plague these cars. I myself have had numerous cooling issues but once on top of these issues it becomes a great little truck. Easy to drive, easy to handle and has ample room once the rear seats fold down you can even sleep in the back as I have done on many fishing trips away.
The 2.4ltr is the most common size but the 2.8ltr TD is the way to go for towing anyway. These trucks are easy to modify and look very tough when done right and they drive extremely well both on-road and off.
Yes, I would buy one again but would spent the money and time on fixing the cooling issues so it could tow better. In my opinion the cooling and towing issues are the only drawback to these trucks.
