Owner’s Thoughts
This is my second HiLux of this model, my previous one was a cab chassis with the 5LE engine, current one is SR5 with the 1KZ engine.

I bought the first one new and only sold it when kids came along due to needing the extra seats of the dual cab. It says something that I sought out the same model but in a dual cab.

It is a great off-road performer, although it isn’t standard, it’s equipped with a mild lift, ARB barwork all round, Goodyear MTR tyres, a Warn winch amongst other changes.

On road it’s no racecar but it performs well at legal speed limits even towing my camper trailer that weighs around 1.3 tonne loaded.

It’s comfortable enough that the wife and kids don’t complain on long drives (modified suspension goes a long way, standard suspension was bad) fuel economy isn’t great, averages around 12L/100km, the muddies contribute to that as does the extra weight of the barwork,  roof-racks etc.

Overall, love it, won’t be selling it anytime soon.
