This FJ40 is super straight and super cool. Only old-skool can rock it this hard.
It was a strange twist of fate that brought this FJ40 V8 into Ryan’s life.
Ryan likes his V8s and before the FJ40 his ride was a HSV Clubsport, an awesome machine right up until the day it was stolen.
Not one to sit in a corner sobbing, Ryan flicked through the classifieds while he waited for some news about his Clubby, and that was when he found the FJ.
As Ryan says, “it was like it was meant to be”.
So while the Clubby was being sold piece by piece to cash buyers in dark alleys, Ryan snapped up the FJ40 and hasn’t looked back. It’s now his daily driver and weekend warrior and Ryan reckons it goes pretty well down at Fraser Island, one of his favourite destinations.
As you can see from the pics, this FJ40 is a minter and features a dual-fuel 5.7-litre V8 conversion. A T400 disc brake front end makes sure it stops almost as fast as it goes, or at least faster than it used to stop, and there’s a set of bucket seats to stop the occupants leaving the vehicle on corners.
The FJ rides on a 2″ suspension lift and 33-inch muddies.
Bar work includes a custom front bar, a custom steel roll cage and a custom cargo rack. Out the back there’s a spare wheel carrier.
Modern 4X4s are super capable, safe and comfortable for the most part, but they don’t have this sort of charisma!
