2017 Ford Ranger To Get Reverse Camera, Sync 3 And Euro 5 Engines

The Ford Ranger is on a sales roll, with a 38 percent increase in sales this year, bringing it within punching distance of the best selling HiLux, and it’s about to get even more serious at the top of the sales chart.

Ford is using the 2017 MY update to ramp up Ranger’s competitiveness and will be adding some new standard technologies to the style-side ute range to bring it closer in spec to the HiLux.

The 2017 Ranger XLT and Wildtrack will now get standard SYNC 3, Ford’s in-vehicle infotainment system, featuring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, faster performance, improved voice recognition, 8.0-inch smartphone-like touchscreen and an improved graphic user interface.

The top-of-the-range Wildtrack will feature a suite of driver assist technologies, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Collision Alert, Driver Impairment Monitor, automatic high beam control, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning.

Interestingly, the XLT and Wildtrack account for 62 percent of all Rangers sold so far this year.

Standard across the 2017 Ranger range (with the exception of the XL Plus) will be a rear view camera and reverse parking sensors. In addition to this the XLT will receive front parking sensors.

The 4X4 XL Super Cab Chassis with the 3.2-litre turbo-diesel will for the first time be available with an automatic transmission while the entire range will receive a minor powertrain upgrade to meet Euro 5 emissions standards.
