Martina has quite the soft spot for her Prado. His name is Frank and Martina “loves him to pieces”.
Frank is a 2003 Prado and one of the few 4X4 Adventure Club rigs that isn’t an old-school solid axle truck.
Frank weighs significantly less than a LandCruiser and is powered by Toyota’s 4.0-litre petrol V6, which means performance mods are not required. Martina has however fitted a snorkel, allowing Frank to ford any High Country rivers encountered on club weekends.
A pair of air-lockers aid traction and Martina has changed Frank’s gearing to better suit the 33″ Maxxi Big Horn muddies currently fitted.
A 2″ suspension lift using TJM Gold shocks provides additional clearance on the tracks, and when that runs out there are bash plates fitted to protect Frank’s vitals.
The steel winch bull bar is fitted with a 9000lb Warn winch and rock sliders are fitted to protect Frank’s sills. A pair of Narva HID spotlights help Frank see what’s what in the dark.
Franks been everywhere man.
Including numerous trips through the Victorian High Country, Toolangi and Tallarook state forests. The water, mud, ruts and rocks have never stopped him.
Martina reckons Frank is “tough as guts”. We’d tend to agree.
