2017 Holden Trailblazer Prices And Specs: Big Upgrade And A New Name

Full pricing and specifications have been released for the 2017 Holden Trailblazer models, ahead of their October on-sale date.

Formerly known as the Colorado 7, the 2017 Trailblazer gets more than just a new name, with big changes being made to the level of hi-tech features on offer, interior quality and design and local tweaking of the vehicles on-road dynamics.

2017-holden-trailblazer-002Holden’s Executive Director of Sales, Peter Keley, said with its significant engineering, feature and design upgrades, combined with competitive pricing, Trailblazer will shake up the 4×4 SUV market.

“The new Trailblazer blends premium styling with impressive in-car technology, both in terms of connectivity and active safety features,” Mr Keley said.

“The 2017 Trailblazer looks great and drives better than ever. To be able to add all of the content we have without adding significantly to the price is a real win for our customers.

2017-holden-trailblazer-006As Holden moves from local manufacturer to importer, it’s focus is changing as it seeks to re-position the Holden brand and care more for it’s customers.

“We’re also focused on providing support and peace of mind for our customers throughout the life of their vehicle with our Lifetime Capped Price Service program and our Australian based Customer Care,” said Mr. Keley.

2017-holden-trailblazer-008The 2017 Trailblazer now features LED daytime running lamps and a revised, more ‘muscular’ bonnet design.

Inside there’s a new dash design that incorporates an eight-inch colour touch screen, with the latest Holden MyLink infotainment system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2017-holden-trailblazer-003Additional tech features include a remote vehicle start function, rear park assist and reversing cameras standard across the range. The top of the range LTZ adds front park assist and forward collision alert to the list.

Trailblazer has been given a five star ANCAP safety rating, thanks in part to its range of active and passive safety features including additional driver’s knee airbag, Hill Start Assist, Trailer Sway Control and Hill Descent Control. Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are added to LTZ models.

2017-holden-trailblazer-004The Trailblazer was developed in conjunction with the 2017 Colorado ute (Holden call it a truck…) in collaboration between Holden and GM Brazil.

Holden’s Lead Dynamics Engineer, Rob Trubiani, said customers’ lifestyles were central to the engineering objectives for the new Trailblazer.

“Trailblazer is such a versatile car, used for anything from weekday grocery runs to weekend 4×4 driving adventures so we had to ensure it performed in a variety of situations and terrains,” Mr Trubiani said.

2017-holden-trailblazer-007The engineering improvements include a revised steering calibration, with a faster steering rack ratio and less turns lock-to-lock.

Changes to the chassis include new engine, transmission and body mounts, in addition to a new final drive ratio (only in Australia) on manual transmission Trailblazer, that Holden claim will improve the driving experience, particularly when towing.

The 2017 Holden Trailblazer will be on sale at Holden dealers nationwide from early October.
