Rubbing more salt into the ‘we don’t get it here’ wound is the new Hennessey VelociRaptor, a 6X6 version of Ford’s North American market F-150 Raptor and it makes our Army G-Wagen 6X6s look a bit half-baked.
As it should, with prices starting at US$295,000.
The hefty price tag includes US$52,505 for the four-door Ford F-150 Raptor base vehicle and close to US$250,000 to add the ‘Veloci’.
Like the Ford Raptor, the VelociRaptor is powered by a 3.5-litre EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 outputting 336kW and 691Nm. If that’s not enough, you can pay extra and have some Hennessey tuning added to the package.
Hennessey will lighten your wallet by upgrading the turbochargers, fitting a new front-mounted inter-cooler and stainless steel exhaust system and then re-tuning the ECU to extract 450kW from the EcoBoost V6.
Engine aside, turning a Raptor into a VelociRaptor includes modifying the ute bed and fitting wider wheel arch flares to allow the fitment of a second locking rear axle.
Hennesssey then add new front and rear bar work, a Fox suspension system, 20-inch alloy wheels with serious looking tyres and a roll bar with LED lights.
We are sure there is more to it given the spend. There has to be right?
Oh yeah, if you want to upgrade to Brembo brakes, add more protection, larger wheels or trick up the interior you can.
It’ll just cost you extra.
