When it came time to buy a 4X4 ute, Jamie locked onto the D22 because it offered great value. It was also available with a petrol V6 a fact which ‘sealed the deal’.
Jamie has never been a big fan of the way turbo-diesels drive, much preferring the smooth power delivery of a naturally aspirated petrol engine.
His D22 Navara is powered by Nissan’s VG30E 3.0-litre V6 and besides a timing tweak and a high-flow exhaust, Jamie has left it pretty much standard.
The other benefit of a petrol engine is that they place less stress on the drivetrain and Jamie has left the Navara’s factory standard.
Up front sits and aluminium bull bar and the underside of the business end of the Navara is protected by a bash plate.
Jamie has focused most of his attention on improving the Navara’s ground clearance. He’s fitted a 2″ suspension lift in addition to a 2″ body lift, which has allowed him to run 33″ Cooper ST Maxx (aggressive all-terrain) tyres.
Wheels are 16×8 ROH alloys with a positive 30 offset.
Jamie’s added a bunch of additional 12 volt gear, including two 22″light bars on the roof, two pencil beam HID spots on the bull bar and a couple of Cree LED flush mount reverse lights.
A tradie roof rack is home to Jamie’s swag and recovery gear when he hits the trails.
Living near the beach means that Jamie and the D22 can often be found on the dunes where the D22’s wider rev-range and smooth petrol V6 delivery, means he can run rings around his mates in their diesel powered Navaras.
